cozy coat measurement chart

let’s have a look at measurements

you can find the measurements of the different sizes in the chart. As a continental European I draft everything in cm and then translate the metric measurements into imperial inches. please don’t be mad if it’s weird sometimes…..maybe in the future I can master the inch! check out my size guide and body measurements here

since the cozy coat drapes you can also size up and down for different volume effects.

make a toile and try!

MATERIAL CONSUMPTION

the cozy coat sewing pattern

depending on the size you chose and the width of you fabric the amount you need to work with the cozy-coat sewing pattern varies. for the small sizes xs-s you can get away with as little as 1,6m x 2 m , for narrower fabrics around 1,2 m wide you will most likely need 3-4 m depending on the size. In the tutorial I have added a few lay plan ideas to give you a better Idea of how to place and cute the pieces 😀

my favourite the quilted linen patch work version

MATERIAL COICES

which fabric do you want to use?

the cozy coat works with pretty much anything. light linen turns it into a fabulous cardigan robe, up-cycled quilts are a native for this pattern, but also denim like, corduroy or coating materials like boiled wool or classic wool/cashmere etc. I’m definitely going to Make a fake fur one and a short linen bomber with the bomber hack 😀

Watch my tutorial for the classic wool version!

DO YOU NEED CLOSURE?

I’ve added a few ideas of fastenings to the tutorial, personally though I just let it hang.

But why not put some cool snap button, a cute front bow string or even a casual belt!

PATTERN HACKS!

I’ve added a few cool pattern hacks/modification to the ebook tutorial as well. The cozy-coat pattern is a really great base for lots of variations and projects to come. You should definitely try a short version – why not the bomber hack?

Especially for newbies and beginners, try the raglan hack or the dolman sleeve! They are great little drafting practice projects – but don’t forget to make a toile first , hehehe 😀

you can get the digital cozy-coat pdf pattern right here in my shop or in my etsy store.

Hi! Do you have a hack for adding a hood? Or a standup collar? Or both?! I love the look and fit of your pattern but am not experienced enough to know how to create the hacks for a hood or collar but would love the look of on.

    Hey Tobias
How hard would it be to add a lapel to this one? Similar to the cardigan? I don’t want to buy both patterns though. I’m thinking French Terry or upcycled cashmere patchwork

Love my new Cozy Coat. Cozy for wandering through my garden with my cuppa, and puttering around the house. Now thinking of making it with rayon batik for a summer cardigan.
