this is my first free pattern upgrade – and it’s a single welt pocket!
Hi Guys, I’m so busy since were are back to physical classes but I still managed to finally make a fancy pants sew along tutorial for my lovely #trfancypants sewing pattern.
So right when I started to plan the video I felt like I wanted to spice things a little bit up – a welt pocket! I was also a bit lazy to do all the pressing that patch pockets require – to be honest with a bit of practice welt pockets, especially the single welt “all in one” types are fairly easy to sew and super quick.
I’ve added two different ways of sewig the actual welt to the tutorial. I saw the first option on Instagram reels – and I love it!

Anyway enough of the small talk and straight to the topic!
I have literally drafted this pattern straight onto the fancy pants back piece, but in the end you can add the pocket to any garment you want. I’ve drafted this welt pocket with the intention to align it to the waist. It will be 5 cm (2″) lower than the waistband. You can however also place the pocket on other positions and remove the excess from the top.
